Lighting: Describe the lighting in the shot. Where is the light coming from? How is it falling on the models face/head/body?Describe the shadows that are created in the photo. The lighting is coming from the upper right side. It highlights the right cheek of the subject. It cast a shadow behind the subject.
Position of the Model: How is the model situated? Is the photo a head shot, or did you include more of the torso?Is the model facing the camera, looking to the side, tilting their head… The photo includes most the model's body, only cutting off a little bit of the legs. The model's head is turned to the left and her head is tilted upwards slightly.
Position of the Camera/Composition: Did you take a horizontal or vertical photo?What was your point of view? Did you shoot from above, below, from the side or on an angle?How close or far were you from the model? I took a vertical photo. I was slightly angling the camera up from a lower point of view because I shot from below. I was within four feet of the model.
Impact/Expression: What does the lighting, position of model and expression on face communicate?What aspect of the model’s personality is being revealed in the portrait? (serious, humorous, sad, anxious…) The lighting a position of the model communicates a serious personality. She has a serious face on and a straight posture.
Compare and contrast: Compare the photo to another with a different impact/viewer response. How did you use different lighting, positioning or expression to communicate a different feeling? This photo differs from the third photo. In the third photo I used the lighting to brighten up her face and make her seem happier. She also has a smile on her face. The third photo communicates happiness while the first one communicates seriousness
